What is anxiety?
Fear is normal human feeling in situations that is more or less dangerous for us. For example it can happen before exams, when someone is attacking us or just before job interview. In that cases it's even helpful for us, so we can react properly. But constantly feeling nervous, uncomfortable and fear of something (irrational fear) is in psychiatry calling anxiety. People who have anxiety are all the time feeling nervous, tense, restless and often struggle with concentration and have sleeping disorders. When it comes to physical symptoms some of them are headache, faster heart beating, short breath, sweating and sometimes vertigo or even tightness in chest, so it often comes with panic attacks.
Why it's happening?
Like everything else, it can be genetic, but in most cases triggers are based in personal experience. Possible reasons are
trauma (car accident, war, death of close family members or friends, abuse...)
genetics
drugs and alcohol (it make anxiety worse and it can happen after abstinence crisis)
another mental disorder (it often goes hand by hand with depression or PTSP)
It's also reaction because of to much stress. It depends on personality type, because some people are most likely to have anxiety, for example high sensitive people. Woman are more tend to have anxiety than men. Nowadays, more and more people suffer from anxiety. I guess it's because to much stress, fast - living, a lot of work and technology impact. We are to busy living in outside world that we forgot to take care of our inner selves. Here are some things that can help you reduce your anxiety.
1.READING
Reading is amazing way to be in the moment and it helps you to keep you calm and stop overthinking. Besides that it has a lot of another benefits, such as brain training and improving concentration, imagination and visualisation ability. It improves your vocabulary and communication skills, which I think are really important in private and professional life. It helps you find a partner or get a job. People are actually not aware about how important is to have great communication skills. Also, depend on what kind of books you are reading, but you learn a lot about bit of everything. No matter if it's a novel or self- help books - you will discover amazing informations and quotes that inspire you or even change your life.
2. COOKING
I was the first one who complained about cooking and how it's annoying and took to much time, but then I realise how it makes me calm. Everything that you make with hands is useful in reducing anxiety. Besides keeping you calm and peaceful you will learn to prepare new meals and start eating way more healthy. As you getting older the ordinary and simple things starts to makes you happy. I used to avoid cooking, but now I can't wait to put my favourite music or podcast and start preparing.
3. WALKING IN NATURE
When I am out of my mind nature is always putting me back on track and help my find my inner strength and peace. Especially if I am with my best friend (dog) and without phone. I like to distract myself from technology and annoying virtual and loud real world. When I say nature I don't mean public park in the middle of center. I mean deep beautiful forest or seaside with fresh air, peace and stunning landscape. I will recommend to go alone more often rather than with group of friends.
4. PAINTING, DRAWING AND ARTS & CRAFTS
All kind of creative art work can help you stop overthinking and secrete a serotonin. All of these three are great for motor skills and self- expression. They creates emotional well - being, stimulates imagination and creativity and encourages joy and playfulness. You could start by first discover what kind of art work you like mostly. For some people it's black and white simple drawings, for some it's painting nature. My favourite is abstract art. I like pop art too. You need to find your favourite technic (crayons, water colours...), go to art shops to buy canvas, papers and colours and start creating! You can start by simply copying other paintings until you start to feel more secure.
6.DIARY AND WRITING
It sounds like a cliche, but writing your own messy thoughts can really help you to clear your mind and intentions. You will better know yourself and discover what is your dominant thoughts. Then you can ask yourself why are you thinking this way? What kind of experiences you have in past? What do you need to change, if you are not happy with your dominant thoughts? Psychologist say that if we write in the morning after we woke up what's on our mind it's coming from our unconscious mind. It's great exercise to found out what is controlling us and what have the power over us. Most people know how our unconscious mind control most of our's reactions, beliefs and behaviour. At night before sleep you can write about things you would like to happen or all good things that happened that day.
7. SOLFEGGIO FREQUENCIES
It's background and mediation music that is based on seven main frequencies. Their are discovered by Josep Puleo and they have power to start deep inner healing. It's great to listen to them as background when you are sleeping or when you just feel restless.

Even if number of people who suffer from anxiety is growing it's not dangerous and difficult disorder, compared to other mental disorders and illness, such as schizophrenia or split personality. But for sure it's not comfortable to live with it. So if you now someone that suffer from anxiety be kind and understanding to them. They are not negative, they are now immature, they are just suffer from disorder. Be their support.
